Introduction

SoloRates is a free, browser-based calculator that helps freelancers estimate their hourly rate. This policy explains what information the site collects and how it is used. SoloRates has no user accounts, no backend server, and no database. The tool runs entirely in your browser.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs. The numbers you enter (income goal, expenses, tax rate, and so on) are stored only in your own browser via localStorage. They are never sent to any server. When you use the "Share" button, your inputs are encoded into the URL so a recipient can open the same calculation — again, no server involved.

Anonymous analytics. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which collects aggregate, anonymous usage data — page views and basic interaction events (e.g. "result viewed", "share link clicked"). Vercel Analytics does not use cookies, does not fingerprint browsers, and does not identify individual visitors.

How we use information

The anonymous analytics data is used solely to understand how the calculator is being used in aggregate and to improve it. No personal profiles are built, and no data is sold.

Third-party links

SoloRates links to external tools (such as QuickBooks, FreshBooks, and HoneyBook). These sites have their own privacy policies and practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links to third-party tools are affiliate links. If you click a link and make a purchase, SoloRates may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This does not influence which tools are recommended.

Your choices

Your calculator inputs are stored locally in your browser. To remove them, clear your browser's local storage for this site, or use the "Start over" button in the calculator to reset to defaults.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
